Just saw an exhibit at the San Diego Art Museum of Old Master paintings that were inset into a wall so you could see the backs and walk around to see the painting. This painting would have been perfect there. What is the back like--just like the front?
SOunds like an interesting exhibition. I always enjoy examining the backs of old paintings. Thsi one is actually painted on hardboard - which I felt was part of the irony! I was tempted to paint the back as though it was the front of the canvas, but in the event I just left it blank.
Wow. That is just cool!
