Acrylic on cotton on MDF
The last of the Match of the Day series. This may be the best one of the lot. I was pleased with how it turned out anyway. The first two "sunday" matches I tryed didn't work. I burned the match right down to a frizzle, but it didn't feel right (and it burnt my fingers). I needed a good straight vertical at the right hand side of the composition and the live match seemed to fit the job perfectly. It constantly surprises me that the formal demands of a painting can seem to reflect a certain universal truth about Life.
