Over-ripe Banana

Over-ripe Banana
Oil on linen mounted on MDF
145x190mm

$300

I will not be posting to this blog quite as regularly from now on. The painting a day project has been fun and I feel like I've learned a great deal from it. I still intend to carry on with painting small paintings, but not everyday. I'd like to return to some more ambitous larger paintings. The world is full of a plethora of mediocre images and eyecandy. I can't help but stop and consider if it really needs more of mine? The time is ripe to move on...

  1. Awww...Paul I will miss your regular updates :-)
I really like the Postcards from Puniho, but I am glad to hear you are thinking of doing some larger works.
Looking forward to seeing what you produce next!

Paul, It's been a very interesting time watching your everyday paintings and how they evolved over the months. Good luck for the future

  3. Paul,
I've enjoyed receiving your blog and looking at the variety of subjects you have selected to paint. I hope that you will share the larger work, too. I've just started a blog, myself, and am learning. http://cecelia-throughmyeyes.blogspot.com/ . It's inspiring to see what others are doing. It's sort of against my nature to work small. I feel very tight and restricted, but I do it now because of convenience and space limitations, as well as cost. I could easily fill a wall. But, my sister, on the other hand, is using the small canvas boards as she does plein aire painting. Good luck with your larger work. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

  5. Thankyou guys for your kind and encouraging words! I appreciate it. Like I say, I'm not abandoning this project entirely - I'll still continue to paint the little ones, maybe two or three a week. I'm looking forward to returning to work on some larger paintings.

  6. I'm thinking of starting a former daily painter support group. Seriously though, your small works seem much more than just eye candy. You always have that sense of the fleeting quality of life contrasting with the beauty of the mundane. I find it very substantial, so glad you're not totally abandoning it. I had tried subscribing a while back and it didn't work, I'll try again.
