Green Plastic Peg

Green Plastic Clothespeg. Oil on gessoed board. 55x115mm. Painted 19th and 20th April. To bid on this painting on NZTradeMe click here. Although it's small, this painting seemed to cause me quite a bit of trouble. It's always a challenge working on a small scale with impasto paint. It would be easy to fall into temptation and get finickety with small pointed brushes and thin paint. I want to resist that as much as I can with these paintings. I like the paint to have it's own phisical presence so that it is as much about painting as it is about the object painted. There's a tension and dynamic about that kind of dichotomy that I enjoy.
