Small postcard and postage stamp sized paintings from New Zealand artist Paul Hutchinson
Stony River Mouth Komene Beach
This is a subject revisited for me. In the early '80s I did a series of large paintings of small toy plastic animals. The kind you used to get free in breakfast cereal. I've still got the animals and felt like painting them again. This time on a much smaller scale.

It struck me that it looked like a crown.

I've long wanted to try painting onto copper so this was a little experiment. It's a very interesting feel working on metal and I think it may have a lot of potential. Next time I'll find a bigger bit of copper..
